Sunday is usually my shopping day where I go to the stores bright and early with my zillion coupons and get what I need for the week. Today though my husband got off work and we went straight to do some different kind of shopping. We went to a junk-yard-scrap yard—whatever you wanna call it. Sounds like fun, huh?

We needed a part for the 2001 car so we can get it running already. Toyota wants to charge an arm and a leg for it. We found 1 on ebay brand new in the box but we were trying to get it a little lower and NOT pay outrageous shipping. Well, there were over 4000 cars in this yard and not one of them was the car we needed. No joking, they literally had every year and model but ours. So after walking around in 96 degree weather we left empty handed. We tried a few more local places and still did not find the part. So we ended up getting the one on ebay. For the part and the shipping- it was still a heck of a lot cheaper than buying it from the dealer.

So the moral of my whole little story here is-if you need auto parts-try to bypass the dealer if you can. This one little dinky part we need costs over 3 times as much at the dealer-a few bucks at the scrap yard (if we would have found one) and cheap on ebay. Now this is for a basic part that you really don’t need a mechanic to put in.

So we walked around in the heat for a little bit-it is worth the effort to save money. Either way I got to spend time with my husband , got a little sun and some much needed exercise.
