An example of street markets accepting credit ...
Image via Wikipedia

I have read so many articles lately about credit cards, credit card use and how creditors are tightening their belts with certain borrowers based on what they buy and where they use their cards. Huh?

I put a link to one of the articles here if you want to read it as I find it even more of a reason NOT to use a credit card.

So you consider yourself a frugal shopper and buy a few things at the dollar store. You put them on your credit card NOT because you don’t have the cash but because you are a smart shopper and you know that if you buy these things-you earn reward points on your credit card(if your credit card company offers rewards). So not only are you picking up a few good deals at the dollar store or any discount store BUT you are also being rewarded for it. Right? That’s how most people do it.

I mean it is great for those who pay off the balances every month. I know some people don’t but I am going with the idea that most people do. And even if they don’t-credit card companies are making their money on the high interest rates they charge anyway.

So does that mean you are in financial distress and are a credit risk because you buy from the dollar store or put your groceries on credit cards? It looks to me like they are punishing smart shoppers-not to mention invading your privacy.

One Response to “What do you put on your credit card?”

Well unless you have not noticed they are controlling our lives more and more. What else can anyone say? Not a good sign but again “it is what it is”!
