Hi Louise!

Yes, when we were selling our home-we had a garage sale every weekend. We also marked most furniture in the house for sale so when buyers would come in-if they didn't want the house-maybe they would want the furniture. We sold some. We also just cleared out our storage-sold some stuff on Ebay and Craigslist. We both made some sacrifices and sold things we have held on to for years. It was kind of sad to part with some things but I know later on I will be able to replace them. Right now, I need the money.

Oh gosh, I don't mind saying how much we were paying out a month minimums-since I was off on my calculations-about $2400 per month minimums only combined! It got to the point where we can't even make the minimums. That is why we are attempting to settle these debts.

I was always worried about paying my cards and keeping my good credit but once I realized that I was taking away from the bills that needed to be paid...rent, utilities, car payment, etc I had to stop. As far as help on any of these things, here in the US we are not really offered that stuff here unless you are in desperate need and even then you have to jump over hoops to get anything! I have been there in my life growing up. There were times when we were without food or water. For a time as a teen, I was homeless. I know what it is like very much to have it rough and I know things can always be worse. I just need to make good on our debts but not have our family struggle going without the things we need to pay a credit card bill.

My main focus now is to get more money coming in. Since my work has gotten rid of overtime, I am aggressively looking for a part time or more to help get this debt to a manageable point. I have tried all the work at home stuff too! Oh gosh, I have been scammed sooo many times over the years. You name it...I have tried it. I do a few click to get paid emails and surveys and some mystery shopping but the money is minimal. Anything helps but I need to make more! I know, don't we all!

Thanks for reading and yes, I will keep on blogging. It helps! Oh-I looked for the book you told me about. No library in my area has it in english! Only in spanish. I found some on Ebay but I gotta wait till I get some money up.

the good thing is once you have added it all up and posted it that you have face the truth of the situation. It feels awful seeing it, but somehow it helps a lot, really it does get better eventually. I remember having to pay the bills in order of who was harrasing me the most in the begining, maybe pay them all the mimimum and pay a little extra off the lowest balance.
How much is the total repayment amount for all the cards each month? (hope you don't mind me asking)

I am so glad your husband is working with you, it sounds like you have a good relationship underneath the debt hassles. I don't know if you have this in the US but can you get some help with your utility bills from a charity ? over here (Aus) people can get help with 3 bills a year ($50) if you could do that then that would mean you could throw a little bit more at the debt, especially those low balances. It's not a lot but it all helps.

can you hold garage sale and get rid of some stuff? I suppose the other option might be debt consolidation, keep blogging, you will get there with the debt reduction :)
