I spent the last couple days looking online and taking the back way home driving through neighborhoods looking for a new place to live. I found a few actually. So before I started calling around making appointments to view them, I decided to call my apartment manager one more time.
She was not in but someone else in her office apologized for the inconvenience and gave us the good news. He said we are “model tenants” with a perfect rental history so they are going to push the approval through! Model tenants-HA!
Apparently the holdup was a “corporate thing”. I am not sure if our credit was an issue but I am sure glad we had a good payment history. That helped out a lot!
Get this, since I was online looking up apartments, I seen they were advertising all their move-in specials for the weekend. I found a 2 bedroom for cheaper than what we use to pay and because they were having a special-I was able to get it for another $80 off the price Woohoo! We will be paying $370 less per month. The utilities should go down too since it is a smaller place. So figure $400 a month savings. That is $4800 a year savings. That is awesome!
So we will need to go back down to a 2 bedroom BUT it is a different layout with an extra closet for storage and no upstairs neighbors! We are the upstairs neighbors. The only bad thing is-we are going up to the 3rd floor. More stairs-yuck. But, I need to lose weight anyway so I guess walking up and down a few more flights of stairs will do me some good!
We are transferring in the middle of June when the current tenants move out. I see us staying as a plus financially and for the school situation. I remember as a kid growing up-I moved around so much and going to a different school every year was no fun and it was hard. My youngest especially is thriving in school-made the Straight A Honor Roll again this semester.
There was no way I was going to pull her out of school now.
Luckily the building we are moving to is far away from the activity and is quiet. Doing a drive-by at all these other places I was looking at, I realized that no matter where you live down here, there are always going to be some bad seeds around.
We will be able to save a lot of money over the next 2 years on rent alone. By then, we will have the money saved up for hopefully our permanent home. I can’t wait for that day.

So glad this worked out for you. But isn’t it amazing what hoops you have to jump thru to get a solution! You always have to do your homework and my brain in on “overload” right now! lol
Congrats though – good news
Geese, I have actually gotten use to “jumping through hoops” lately. If I didn’t have to, I would think something was wrong. lol
I am sooo glad it worked out though. Now we wait for the fun part-the actual move.
Unfortunately I know that feeling all too well. Everything is a chore – nothing is easy but I guess they say “no pain, no gain”! lol
But enough is enough already!! You do get so used to “problems” that if things go smoothly you think something is wrong!! LOL
Good news! Glad it’s working out, although the moving part always is painful, hope you get through it quick and can stay for awhile in the other apartment!
