Sorry for the lack of posting lately. Since my PC took a dive a few weeks ago, I have been posting here on my daughters computer. Nothing like having “are ya done yet?” asked a million times while trying to write.
Back in the days, I would have just whipped out the ‘ol credit card or went online and charged a new PC to my dell account but I didn’t. I waited and waited and compared prices and saved until we could afford to get a new computer.
It’s so weird to classify a computer as a need these days but it is. A lot of my-work-at home stuff got backed up and my husband started to get a lot more orders in for his work that we needed a computer-now. So after comparing prices and shopping around, we found a very good deal and bought a new computer for nearly half of what I would have spent if I would have charged it. Of course it doesn’t have all the fancy options but it does what we need it to do, is a quality laptop and all for under $400. We can also deduct it as a business expense come tax time-since we are using it for work.
What felt the best though was paying for the computer CASH-no credit card. It was awesome to make a purchase like that with cash! I also used the store rewards program with the cash so I can save even more on future purchases.
Yes there are PC’s at work and the library but for what we do-it is just not practical. Besides, I have even better news-after paying for the computer and buying a few parts for the 2001 car-we officially have $4000 in savings! $4000 in savings for some may not be a big deal but for us-you know the people that 1 year ago had over $100k in debt and were bouncing checks left and right-this is a huge deal!
