Hubby got the call…he got the job! WOOHOO! I was very excited when he told me he got it and once I hung up the phone, my headache kicked in. I am so happy we will be getting a steady income coming in. I am beyond happy about that but we ran into a snag already.

He will be working overnights and that is fine but they want him to start training for the first week during the day. Big dilemma-1 car-4 of us! We all need to be in different places at the same time. My little one gets out of school at 3pm and nobody will be around to pick her up. I have 100 different scenarios going through my head and can’t figure out how to do it. It is only 1 week and I can’t believe what a pain this is. I don’t want it to be a pain because he needs this job. He is suppose to call them tomorrow and tell him when he can start. I have a few options:

  1. Pay $200 and rent a car for the week. I will still need to leave work early though to pick up the little one but geese-spend money to make it?
  2. Take some vacation days off at work and walk the 2 miles to the school to pick the little one up. My oldest can walk home. Her school is closer.
  3. Tell them he will start Monday and buy a little used car over the weekend when my income tax money deposits?

Oh no, as I am writing this, I realized another snag. We need to go see the attorney on Thursday as well as attend my daughters function at school (she made A Honor Roll again-that’s my girl!)

You know, I need to go figure this out. I think he needs to tell them he will start Monday. Not sure if that is taking a gamble because I want them to know he seriously needs and wants this job. Crap, why do I always  get in these situations!

Thats fantastic news! Congratulations! you might need a second car by the sound of things, Using the tax money to buy one sounds like a good option.

Awesome!! Wonderful news, as he really needs this job, I would use the tax money as well, and if need be have him start when they want him, reschedule the lawyer for the evening, explain the situation and see if they can see you both at 6 pm or something, hopefully your lawyer will work with you because your husband needs this job. I’m sure you will figure it out, but I am beyond happy for you and your husband!

Thank you both so much! He worked it out with his new job to start on Friday and work over the weekend. Hopefully that will complete the day training and we wont have to worry about it next week.

We decided Friday the kids will stay home from school as a “bonus day” and I will get dropped off at work very early so he wont be late and there wont be so much stress on everyone on his first day.

We will be able to go to the lawyer tomorrow and sign our paperwork and attend my daughters Honor Roll assembly. I am glad because I didn’t want to miss either one.

As far as the 2nd car-we can’t buy one outright with the tax money because it complicates the BK. If the car is over $1k-it may not qualify as an exemption. It would be considered an asset. I am sure we could beg and plead but I really don’t want to complicate things. We will have to wait to buy a car until we are through with the Bankruptcy. It’s gonna be hard but we’ll do it.
