Finally got the money to pay the lawyer!

Wow-2009 is quickly approaching. Remember when we were kids-time would seem to stand still? I was just thinking about those days. My kids are so eager to grow up and I always try to tell them not to rush it, but  then I remember I was that way too at their age. If I only knew then what I know now…

You know, during the year I lose touch with a lot of people and during the holidays I always seem to get phone calls from them all. I have gotten so many calls in this past week and most calls have been nothing but bad news. Gosh, my struggles really seem to pale in comparison to some. The most shocking is people who I thought would be doing well are not at all. I have found out that we are not the only ones in our family to be facing bankruptcy and some family members are doing even worse. Most of these people had no idea and still have no idea we have gone through what most of them are experiencing now. I never thought that I would be giving advice to some of them. Me give financial advice? My husband give financial advice? That is one for the books! One family member is having a hard time with his mortgage and the bank wont work with him and the house has been on the market forever and he can’t sell it. We explained to him what his options could be and told him to consider a short sale. He has been working with a Realtor for this long and they never even mentioned that was a possibility? Wow! That family member now is one of the few who know-we did a short sale and it is possible.

Besides the financial troubles I have been hearing about-many in my family alone are having health issues and even with health insurance they are having a hard time making it. High deductibles and premiums are getting to be too much for them. It just goes to show-this economy is in deep trouble! I really hope things change soon and fast. I really do.

Well, to end this post off on a better note-we got the money up for the lawyer! We need to see him by the end of the month to make the final payment and turn in the paperwork. What’s today? The 28th? Yeah, that gives me plenty of time…lol. I’ll call tomorrow and see what we can do.

It is weird-I read so many blogs where people are saving up to pay off their debt-here were are just trying to save up enough to pay off a bankruptcy lawyer. I know it is the best option for us though and I think we are making the right decision. I really need to talk to this lawyer anyway and see if he knows any changes coming up in 2009. It will be interesting. Of course, anything I find out and feel would benefit anyone reading this-I will post here.
