We just filed for Bankruptcy and had the 341 meeting of creditors today.  On the way home from court, we stopped by our P.O. Box to pick up the mail. I just decided to open the mail up and could not believe what I saw. They are freakin’ credit card offers! One for me and one for my husband. Are they freakin’ serious? Our bankruptcy is not even finalized yet and we haven’t gotten our discharge paper and we are already getting credit card offers! lol We have not gotten offered any kind of credit since we stopped paying the credit cards we had.

I read the fine print on the one credit card offer and it is one of those cards for people with less-than-perfect credit. So we can re-establish our credit. Nah-I don’t think so. They are going in the garbage for sure. I can not believe that. So, I see now that we wont be having too much trouble getting offered credit. Not that I would ever want it again! I am definitely shaking my head at this one. What are the odds that these credit card offers come today? I am still in awe. Yeah, I am definitely going to take my nice long bath now.

5 Comments on A credit card offer already? You’re kidding me!

You also mentioned keeping a credit card – that was one of the questions. Do people really keep one? And use it? Seems weird to me and was just wondering if that is the case!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh and I think the calls are beginning – my cell phone rings quite a bit with 800 numbers. ugh

Oh yeah-that’s them calling! Sorry-the calls will get worse and worse until you file.

First thing they tell you when you file-DO NOT use your credit cards. I seen people at court the other day that did and well, things did not go good for them. I know someone that kept a card at a zero balance while they did BK and once they got discharged-started using it again and got right back in the hole!

My husband had 2 Macy’s accounts-one was being included in BK-the other we never used and has a zero balance. They wrote a letter the other day that they were closing that one because they know about his filing BK. We didn’t need it anyway.

They say you can keep a card with a zero balance while you go through BK and use it after you receive your discharge. But, most banks find out and close the account anyway like Macy’s did my husband. I am OK with that. I prefer not to have credit cards. My Visa/MasterCard bank card will do me just fine.

okay thanks – No I am not using my cards now – have stopped that in the last month. Just using my debit card when I have to. Like you I really do not need any credit card as long as I have my bank card.

Yep I am sure the calls will start coming more frequently but that is a part of it so I know what to expect.

    Thanks again!

just one question – I am not answering the calls – should I? LOL
